Arrive at the Magellan Inn in Cahuita. Elegant and comfortable rooms await you in this tropical paradise. Aromas of ylang-ylang, frangipane and jasmine linger in the air. The sound of waves on the beach nearby and the light breeze from the sea add to this exotic and tropical setting. Magellan Inn is a haven for all Beings, from the tiniest black and green dart frog, colorful humming birds, chattering parrots, ponderous iguanas and slow sloths to playful monkeys. There is a quiet yet powerful energy that lies beneath these coral rocks of 10,000 years, where this little sanctuary is built upon. Without disturbing the surrounding nature “Magellan Inn” mingles with the wild tropical plants, trees and medicinal plants of the area.

Our 1st class of “Yoga & Horse Connection”
We will start by first sharing territory with the horses. Relaxing in a meditative state, letting the horse come to you and visit, by not forcing our selves on the horse, we are giving them their freedom. Let him smell you, breathe you and connect with you. Let the horse be free to come and go at their own will. Then we will introduce ourselves by saying hello, staying in the moment and asking nothing more.
We will practice our awareness by observing herd behaviour. As they graze the horse remains always aware of their surroundings, the noises, the changes, the energy. By being aware with a soft focus they keep themselves safe at all times, ready to flee if necessary. We watch their reactions and mirror them. With this, they start to no longer see us as predators, but as part of the herd. We spend the time, in a quiet peaceful mind set, letting the energies, the sounds, the life roll over us and around us, at one with nature.
As they begin to accept our presence, we can then start a connection by initiating the next step, which is to greet them. You will learn to do this like horses do. Respecting their space, as you ask them to respect your space.
After the too have greeted us, we can them have physical contact with them. Rubbing them on their itchy spots, mimicking the grooming they give to eachother. We stay in the moment, no expectations, just peace & quiet. You will learn how to open your Heart Chakra and connect with that of the horses. Your energies mixing together. This is very peaceful to the horse, they are very open to this. Here the magic can happen, as you let the horse see your true self, no facades. They feel this naturally at all times, we can never lie to them, but now we learn to not lie to ourselves. The horse helps us to reconnect to our inner self.
As we have Chakras so does the horse and you will learn where they are and how to connect with these energy channels when in contact with your horse and during unmounted and mounted Yoga poses with the horse.
With everything we do, be it as simple as eating an apple, grooming our horse, practicing Yoga, riding, swimming, gardening, we will try and do it with presence of mind, focusing on what we are doing, in the moment, that it becomes part of who we are. When we rush through life, through doing things because we have other things to do, somewhere esle to go, we bring chaos into our life energy, into the Prana around us and this creates dis- ease in the body. This chaos or negative energy begin in our energetic field around us, then enters through our Chakras, into our physical body bringing dis-ease into our organs.
Doing this also causes stress in our horses. We owe it to them and to ourselves to be in their lives, without stress in ours. When we let go, they let us in, and this is magical, this is the moment we all want and search for. So difficult to attain, but so simple and rewarding!
We will spend the rest of the morning learning Yoga stretches for horses to release tension in their muscles, lubricate their joints and undo stress, blockages and tension using Jun Shin Jyutsu techniques.
Lunch. A moment where we will enjoy the food. Fresh organic salads & dishes. Now, organic, salads, vegetable, fruit, don’t think all boring, no flavour! You will experience flavours & spices popping in your mouth! Dressings with organic virgin olive oil, Balsamic vinegars, herbs, spices, a variety of salads, lentil croquettes, spicy patties, Taboules, pizzas, burritos, red bean, avocado & sprout wraps, these and more will be part of our lunches.
After lunch, you will head out into the National Park of Cahuita for a guided hike along its sandy paths following the turquoise waters of these beautiful beaches. Little coves and inlets to stop and bathe in the blue waters, all amidst the vibrant jungle which is alive in chattering monkeys, raccoons, opossums and other animals.
Then to Cahuita center where you can enjoy a cool fresh fruit smoothie and check out the local artisanal shops along the main strand of Cahuita.
6pm Evening Restorative Yoga class & Guided Meditation
7 pm Divine dinners such as fresh Caribbean Shrimp Martiniquaise, spiced rice and mixed green leaves with melted goat cheese toasts & Balsamic dressing will be served on the open-air terrace. Try one of the frosty cocktails a Pina Colada or frozen Margarita or a chilled glass of white wine!
A choice of desserts from French Profiterolles, to Ice creams with toppings with wild names like Jungle Ginger, Rasta Rum or White Magic!
As the night’s darkness settles, lie in your hammock and listen to the sounds of the jungle.
Sunrise Yoga on the beach. Let your body awaken with the warm tropical rays of the sun and the energizing sea. Practice of Sun Salutations!
8:00 am Breakfast
10 am Yoga with Horses & Meditating.
After doing a few Yoga movements to relax our bodies we will enter into the stillness of the horse. Taking chairs or our yoga mats we will open “Sacred Space” with the horse. In quiet meditation we will enter the Alpha state. This is where the magical connection can happen. Loosing track of time and place, just the feel of a light breath of air touching the skin, the hum & sounds of the jungle, the whiskers of a horse’s muzzle and his breath on the nape of your neck. Not asking anything of the horse, nor yourself. Just be……. in the moment……
Practicing asanas near the horses and observing their and our reactions. Asanas open up all the Chakras, allowing prana/life energy to enter and flow creating balance and health in our bodies. By creating peace in our bodies, we bring peace & harmony to our horses, which relaxes them so completely they often seem to dose off!
1 pm Lunch
3 pm. After lunch and relaxing in the pool or a small siesta, we will head out on our 1st horse-riding trek. 2 hours of wild beach & jungle adventure. Following the winding Tuba Creek, as it leads us deep into the jungle, we will see monkeys, iguanas, maybe a crocodile, Herons, storks, parrots and toucans. The giant coniferous trees leaning over us, as we pass under their branches heavily laden with orchids and vines.
As the day settles and dusk begins, the colours change, softening into a quiet stillness, as we head back home along the beach, wading through the warm tropical waters.
6pm Evening Restorative Yoga
7:00 am. Equine Yoga Core Strenthening exercizes
-emphasis on Pranayama and awareness as that will be very important when we are snorkeling in the waters!
9:30 Today we will go to the little natural harbor of Cahuita where we will embark on a boat for the trip to the coral reefs off the National Park of Cahuita. Here we will jump into the waters and snorkel amongst the multitudes of colourful tropical fish, blowfish, angelfish, swordfish, manta rays, nurse sharks, barracudas and dolphins as they swim and hunt through an amazing variety of live coral, one of its kind on the whole coast! Arriving at the waterfalls its time to dive into that cool mountain water , crystal clear and cleansing. Picnic on the rocks and banks of the pool .
Along the river, among the giant boulders , stands a majestic and ancient tree. Here in this Sacred Space we meditate and invite the ageless wisdom & knowledge of this ancient tree to enter our souls and bring us inner peace.
